In traditional belief, <strong>Phra Phirun<\/strong> is the god of rain who rides the <strong>Naga<\/strong>, the mythical serpent associated with water and fertility. The monument was designed by <strong>Ajarn Nikorn Aksornprom<\/strong> and constructed by Alumni Class 27. Originally, a <strong>lotus pond surrounded the statue<\/strong>, but it was later filled in to allow easier access. <strong>Ajarn Wipat Boonsri Wangsai<\/strong> later ordered the pond to be restored, following the belief that the Naga must be associated with water.
