ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ สำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้มีภารกิจในการอนุรักษ์และบริหารจัดการข้อมูลประวัติศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ ตั้งแต่เริ่มก่อตั้งเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2477 จนถึงปัจจุบัน เพื่อคงไว้ซึ่งมรดกทางประวัติศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมของมหาวิทยาลัยอย่างยั่งยืน
ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ มุ่งมั่นดำเนินงานตามหลักวิชาชีพด้านจดหมายเหตุและมาตรฐานสากล โดยเน้นการแสวงหา คัดสรร ประเมินคุณค่า ให้คำอธิบาย และอนุรักษ์บันทึกหลักฐานทั้งในรูปแบบกายภาพและดิจิทัล เพื่อรักษาความแท้จริง ความถูกต้อง และความสมบูรณ์ของข้อมูล พร้อมทั้งพัฒนาและให้บริการทรัพยากรจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ เพื่อสนับสนุนการบริหารงาน การเรียนการสอน การวิจัย และการศึกษาค้นคว้าในทุกระดับ
นอกจากนี้ ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ ยังมีบทบาทในการรวบรวม อนุรักษ์ และเผยแพร่ข้อมูลสารสนเทศและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นภาคเหนือ เพื่อเชื่อมโยงองค์ความรู้ระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยกับชุมชน สร้างความตระหนักรู้ถึงคุณค่าของเอกสารและบันทึกทางประวัติศาสตร์ รวมถึงส่งเสริมให้หน่วยงานภายในมหาวิทยาลัยร่วมมือกันในการส่งมอบเอกสารสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ให้ได้รับการอนุรักษ์อย่างถาวร
พร้อมกันนี้ ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ ยังมุ่งพัฒนาระบบบริหารจัดการจดหมายเหตุในรูปแบบดิจิทัล การอนุรักษ์ดิจิทัล และการให้บริการเชิงรุก เพื่อเพิ่มการเข้าถึงข้อมูลในวงกว้าง รวมทั้งสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือกับหน่วยงานภายในและภายนอกมหาวิทยาลัย เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และยกระดับมาตรฐานการดำเนินงานด้านจดหมายเหตุให้เทียบเท่ามาตรฐานสากล อันจะนำไปสู่การอนุรักษ์มรดกทางประวัติศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้อย่างมั่นคงและยั่งยืน
The Archives and Special Collections Division, under the Maejo University Library, is dedicated to preserving and managing the historical records of Maejo University from its establishment in 1934 to the present day, ensuring the long-term preservation of the university’s historical and cultural heritage.
The Division operates in accordance with professional archival principles and international standards, emphasizing the acquisition, appraisal, description, and preservation of both physical and digital records to maintain their authenticity, accuracy, and integrity. It also provides access to archival and special collection resources to support administration, teaching, learning, research, and scholarly inquiry at all levels.
In addition, the Division plays a key role in collecting, preserving, and disseminating local information and wisdom of Northern Thailand, connecting knowledge between the university and the community, and raising awareness of the importance and value of historical records. It encourages cooperation among university departments to transfer and safeguard historically significant documents for permanent preservation.
Furthermore, the Division is committed to developing digital archival management and preservation systems, enhancing proactive access and services, and fostering collaboration with both internal and external organizations. Through these efforts, it aims to exchange expertise, promote archival awareness, and elevate archival management standards to meet international benchmarks—preserving Maejo University’s heritage for future generations.
History ประวัติ
ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ สำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้เริ่มก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 8 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2552 ภายใต้ชื่อ “กลุ่มภารกิจจดหมายเหตุและสารนิเทศท้องถิ่น” เพื่อดำเนินงานด้านการรวบรวม อนุรักษ์ และให้บริการข้อมูลประวัติศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัย และข้อมูลสารสนเทศท้องถิ่นภาคเหนือ
ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2560 เมื่อมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ได้เปลี่ยนสถานะจากมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐมาเป็น มหาวิทยาลัยในกำกับของรัฐ สำนักหอสมุดได้มีการปรับโครงสร้างหน่วยงานภายในใหม่ เพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับระบบบริหารจัดการรูปแบบใหม่
จนกระทั่งในปี พ.ศ. 2562 กลุ่มภารกิจจดหมายเหตุและสารนิเทศท้องถิ่นได้รับการยกระดับเป็น “ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ” เพื่อเพิ่มศักยภาพในการบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันเฉพาะทางอย่างเป็นระบบ พร้อมขยายภารกิจด้านการอนุรักษ์ การบริการ และการเผยแพร่ข้อมูลสู่สาธารณะ
ในระยะต่อมา ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ ได้พัฒนาและขยายบทบาทสู่ การบริหารจัดการจดหมายเหตุในรูปแบบดิจิทัล (Digital Archives) และการจัดตั้ง คลังข้อมูลดิจิทัลและอนุรักษ์ดิจิทัล (Digital Repository and Preservation) เพื่อให้การอนุรักษ์เอกสารประวัติศาสตร์มีความยั่งยืนและตอบสนองต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ นอกจากนี้ ฝ่ายจดหมายเหตุและคอลเล็กชันพิเศษ ยังได้ดำเนินการรวบรวมและเผยแพร่ข้อมูล คอลเล็กชันพิเศษและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นภาคเหนือ เพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้และการวิจัย ตลอดจนสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือกับหน่วยงานทั้งภายในและภายนอกมหาวิทยาลัย เพื่อพัฒนาและยกระดับมาตรฐานงานจดหมายเหตุของมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ให้เทียบเท่าสากล
The Archives and Special Collections Division of the Maejo University Library was established on September 8, 2009, originally known as the Archives and Local Information Group. The division was created to collect, preserve, and provide access to the historical records of Maejo University and local information of Northern Thailand.
In 2017, following Maejo University’s transition from a government university to an autonomous public university, the Library underwent a structural reorganization to align with the new administrative system.
By 2019, the Archives and Local Information Group was restructured and officially designated as the Archives and Special Collections Division, enhancing its capacity to manage archival and special collection resources systematically while expanding its mission to include preservation, access, and public outreach.
In subsequent years, the Division advanced into the realm of digital archival management and preservation, establishing a Digital Repository and Digital Preservation Program to ensure sustainable access to the university’s historical records in response to technological change. Moreover, the Division continues to collect and disseminate special collections and local wisdom of Northern Thailand, promoting learning, research, and cultural heritage preservation. It also fosters collaboration with internal and external organizations to strengthen archival practices and raise Maejo University’s archival standards to meet international levels.

Objective
- To acquire, appraise, preserve, maintain, and provide access to the historical records and documents of Maejo University, both in physical and digital formats, in a systematic manner to ensure their long-term accessibility and sustainability.
- To serve as a reference source on the history and development of Maejo University for administrative purposes, teaching, learning, research, and public dissemination.
- To collect, preserve, and provide access to local information and wisdom of Northern Thailand in order to promote learning and the preservation of local culture and heritage.
- To promote and develop systems for the management and preservation of archival resources in digital form, ensuring sustainable access and efficient information management.
- To disseminate and encourage the utilization of archival materials and special collections to enhance academic, cultural, and social value.
- To establish collaborative networks with internal and external organizations for the development and exchange of archival knowledge and to advance archival practices in accordance with international standards.
