แอก (อ่านว่า: แอก) คือ อุปกรณ์ไม้ที่ใช้สำหรับวางพาดบนต้นคอของวัวหรือควาย ทำจากไม้เนื้อแข็งที่มีความโค้งมนเพื่อให้รับกับสรีระช่วงคอของสัตว์เลี้ยงพอดี แอกมีหน้าที่หลักในการเป็นเครื่องมือส่งผ่านกำลังจากตัวสัตว์ไปสู่เครื่องพ่วง โดยจะใช้เชือกมัดโยงจากแอกไปต่อเข้ากับคันไถหรือคราด เมื่อสัตว์เดินไปข้างหน้า แรงดึงจะถูกถ่ายทอดผ่านแอกไปยังอุปกรณ์การเกษตร ทำให้เกษตรกรสามารถควบคุมทิศทางและความลึกในการไถพรวนดินได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ แอกจึงเป็นตัวแทนของความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างคน สัตว์ และกสิกรรมที่สืบทอดกันมาอย่างยาวนาน
A yoke is a wooden device placed across the neck of cattle or buffalo. It is made from hardwood and shaped with a gentle curve to fit the animal’s neck comfortably. The main function of the yoke is to transfer the pulling power of the animal to attached farming tools. Ropes are tied from the yoke to equipment such as a plow or harrow. As the animal moves forward, the pulling force is transmitted through the yoke to the agricultural implement, allowing farmers to control the direction and depth of soil cultivation effectively. The yoke therefore represents the long-standing relationship between humans, animals, and traditional agriculture.
