เครื่องพิมพ์ดีด คืออุปกรณ์เชิงกลที่ใช้พิมพ์ตัวอักษรลงบนกระดาษโดยตรง โดยเมื่อผู้ใช้กดแป้นพิมพ์ ก้านตัวอักษรจะดีดไปกระแทกกับแถบผ้าหมึก ทำให้เกิดรอยหมึกเป็นรูปตัวอักษรบนกระดาษ เครื่องพิมพ์ดีดเคยเป็นเครื่องมือสำคัญในการจัดทำเอกสารและงานธุรการ ก่อนที่จะถูกแทนที่ด้วยคอมพิวเตอร์และเครื่องพิมพ์ในปัจจุบัน

A typewriter is a mechanical device used to produce printed characters directly onto paper. When a key is pressed, a typebar strikes an ink ribbon, leaving an impression of the character on the paper. It was once an essential tool for preparing documents and office work before computers and printers became widely used.
