A cassette tape recorder, such as those produced by National, is a device used to play and record sound on cassette tapes. It works by using a tape head to read magnetic signals stored on the tape and convert them back into audible sound through the built-in speaker. The device can also record voices, interviews, or music by pressing the record button. Cassette tape recorders were widely used in the late 20th century before being replaced by digital technologies such as MP3 players and smartphones.
