An overhead projector is a device used to project images or text from transparent sheets onto a large screen so that many viewers can see them at the same time. It works by shining a light from the base of the machine through a transparency placed on a glass stage. The light then passes through a lens and mirror system at the top of the projector and reflects the image onto a screen in front of the presenter. This device was widely used in classrooms and meeting rooms before modern digital projectors.
